Whispering Mask is one of the many magical items in Baldur’s Gate 3, having a mysterious presence and usability. When you find Antie Ethal and proceed with a devastating fight, you will have an interaction with this strange mask.
There are phases in the Baldur’s Gate 3 Auntie Ethal’s fight, and in the center of it, the fight takes a short pause, as the old hag is running away into the depths of the cave.
Now, you have some time on your hands to explore the region and find the Whispering Mask, allowing you to either wear it or not.
In BG3, items have positive, as well as negative effects, so wearing this strange mask might turn into a nightmare. But, there is a correct way to use Whisperin Mask in Baldur’s Gate 3, so that you can reap the benefits and don’t have any side effects. We are going to discuss it below.
Correct Way to Use Whispering Mask in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)
If you wear the Auntie Ethel Whispering Mask, there are short instances when you lose control of your character, and Auntie Ethel – The Green Old Hag will take control over your character.
As a side effect, your fight against Auntie Ethel is going to get harder, giving her more, and even control over your characters. In the worst-case scenario, you might even have to defeat one of your characters you hold dear.
The correct way of using the Whispering Mask in BG3 is after Auntie Ethel’s defeat. Wear the mask and you will be granted a passage to the Gnarled Door found in the Overgrown Tunnel.
Keep in mind that the turn is based on chances, as Auntie Ethel can still take control over the character. After you pass the door, just throw that Mask Away.
You can also use it to stop the Blushing Mermaid Basemen Non-Playable-Characters (NPCs) from attacking you. A secret trick is to use the Mask, but before that, you can put on the Protection From Evil Spell. This will stop the Old Hag from actually controlling you.
