Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continues the thrilling reimagining of the classic Final Fantasy 7 story. As Cloud and crew escape the chaos of Midgar, their journey takes them to breathtaking new areas and challenges, including the optional side quest “The Pursuit of Perfection.”
The Pursuit of Perfection
If you’re the type of player who loves exploring and helping others, this side quest is worth picking up when you reach the village of Gongaga. Head to the village noticeboard to kick things off. Izo, the local weaponsmith, is obsessed with crafting the ultimate weapon. To help him, you’ll need to track down some rare Draconite Ore.
Follow The Photos To Find the Draconite Deposit
- Get the Directions: Find Izo at his Smithery (northeast of the village) and he’ll hand you a map. It’s not a normal map though – it’s a set of photos giving clues to the Draconite deposit’s location.
- Starting Point: Head back the way you came towards the Smithery, then take the path to the left. There should be a tree with a big hole in the middle – that’s your landmark.
- Follow the Trail: Go around the tree and you’ll find a broken-down monument with a lantern inside. From here, take another left and follow the path until you see a huge tree close to a cliff. It’s hard to miss!
- Ambush! Be careful as you get close to the tree – a group of flying critters called Daggerwings will swoop in for an attack. Take them down before you start looking for the ore.
- Shiny Stuff: The Draconite Ore is bright blue and looks like crystals. You’ll find some near the tree. Also, look for a rope nearby that’ll take you up higher where you’ll find more ore deposits.
Ore and Reward
You don’t need to collect every single piece of ore, just grab at least eight. Once you’ve got enough, hightail it back to Izo’s Smithery. Talk to him to wrap up the quest and get your reward (and improve your relationship with Barret!).
Final Words
This quest gets a little tricky because the map uses pictures instead of directions, so pay close attention to the landmarks in Izo’s photos. The Daggerwings can be a little annoying, so be ready for a fight!
