The Marvel and Sony Spider-Man universe is expanding yet again with the highly anticipated film, Madame Web.
Starring Dakota Johnson as the titular character and Sydney Sweeney as Spider-Woman, this movie marks Sony’s first female-centric Marvel superhero film.
Directed by S.J. Clarkson, the project began shooting last year and has been generating a buzz among fans.
Who is Madame Web?
Madame Web, also known as Cassandra Webb, made her first appearance in Marvel comics in 1980. As an ally of Spider-Man, she is a telepathic mutant who primarily appears as an elderly woman.
In the comics, Madame Web faces several unique challenges. She is blind and lives with a neuromuscular autoimmune disorder that requires her to rely on a spiderweb-like life support system.
Unlike other superheroes, Madame Web does not actively engage in physical combat with villains. Instead, her powers lie in her psychic abilities and her deep connection to the spider world.
