Are you ready to be spooked once again? Beetlejuice 2 is finally in the works and rumors are rife about the cast. The latest buzz is that Jenna Ortega, the star of Netflix’s Wednesday, will be playing the role of Winona Ryder’s daughter in the movie.
Beetlejuice, the original movie, was a massive hit when it was released in 1988. Directed by Tim Burton, the movie went on to earn $74 million on a budget of $15 million. It received great reviews from the audience and critics alike.
The original movie had Micahel Keaton as the lead. The movie also starred Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder, Alec Baldwin, and Geena Davis. The movie follows the Deetz family as they move into a house previously owned by the Maitlands who died in a car accident. The ghosts of the Maitlands take the help of Beetlejuice to scare the family away.
According to Deadline, Brad Pitt’s production company Plan B will be producing the movie with Warner Bros. The news about the upcoming movie was confirmed last year in February.

However, according to a source, Catherine O’Hara, Winona Ryder, and Michael Keaton will return for the sequel. In 2014, Burton told Variety that “there is only one Beetlejuice”,
There’s only one Beetlejuice, and that’s Michael. There is a script, and I would love to work with him again. I think there is now a better chance than ever… I miss that character. There’s something that’s cathartic and amazing about it. I think it’s closer than ever.”
Jenna Ortega is rumored to play the role of Lydia Deetz’s daughter. Ortega and Burton will also be back again for Wednesday season 2. Also, Ortega shared her thoughts on working on “Wednesday” and said that she does not want to be specifically known for playing Wednesday Addams,
“Now a lot of people know me from that. It’s not my proudest moment internally, which, I think, also adds an extra level of insecurity and stress,” Ortega explained. “Because it’s like, no, I’m finally getting these offers to these places that I want, but I don’t want to be known specifically for that.”
There are also rumors that Johnny Depp will also appear in the movie. However, it is not confirmed if the rumors are true or not. There is no information about his role on the official IMDb page of the movie.
Release Date
As of now, there is no news about the release date of the sequel, but reports suggest that the production will begin in May or June. Winona Ryder confirmed in 2015 during her appearance on “Late Night with Seth Meyers” that the sequel was “closer than ever,”.
