Bradley Cooper is going to star and direct the upcoming Netflix movie “Maestro”. The movie is a biopic based on Leonard Bernstein. Bradley Cooper also wrote the screenplay with Josh Stinger. The producers for the upcoming film include big Hollywood names like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, Todd Phillips, and Amy Durning.
It is not the first time Bradley Cooper will be sitting in the director’s seat, the actor also directed ‘A Star is Born” which received a lot of love from the critics and the audience. However, the actor also told the collider how he got the project from Steven Spielberg. According to the actor Cooper, Spielberg told the actor that if he finds the material then he can write or direct the movie:
‘I always felt like I could play a conductor, but may I research the material and see if I can write it and direct it? Would you let me do that?'” He continued, “Steven has a lot of interests — he’ll just choose one thing and all of the other things will be on hold. I think he knew he wasn’t going to make that movie for a while. He was kind enough to hand it off to me, and that’s what I’ve been doing for the last four and a half years, and we start shooting in May.”
Maestro Release Date
Maestro has been in production since January 2020. However, the filming of the movie finally started in May 2022 as Netflix took the project from Paramount pictures. The filming ended on July 2022. There is no release date revealed yet by Netflix yet.
Plot
The film will follow the life story of “Leonard Bernstein” an American composer and conductor. Berstein is famous for his musicals like on the Town, Wonderful Town, and A quiet place. He was also the composer for Steven Speilberg’s The West side Story. However, it is the famous comper’s personal life that inspired Cooper to become part of the project. The film will follow his marriage with actress Felicia Montealegre and his struggle as a homosexual man in his 50s.
Cast
Bradley Cooper played the role of legendary composer Leonard Bernstein. There are many pictures available from the set of “Maestro” and the actor can be seen in the character. Carey Mulligan will play Felicia Montealegre. Mulligan has appeared in other Netflix projects like The Dig and Mudbound and she is also famous for her role in The Great Gatsby. Stranger Things “Maya Hawke” will play Jamie Bernstein, Leonard Berstein, and Felicia Montealegre’s daughter.
The other cast members include Jermy Strong, Matt Bonner, William Hill, and Oscar Pavlo.
