Netflix is developing a new series “The Rats“. The series will follow a group of young gang criminals that steal from the rich. The group will be introduced in season 3 of the series. The series is still in the pre-production stage. The upcoming spin-off show is created by the showrunner and writer Haily Hall. Also, Shadow and Bone and The Sandman’s director, Mairzee Almas is going to direct some of the episodes for the series. However, fans are worried that the new project can be a failure if Netflix deviates from the original material of Sapkowski’s novels.
Release Date
Netflix has not officially announced anything about the new spin-off show yet. But, according to a source RedanianIntelligence reported in November 2022 that there is a new Netflix spin-off. Also, the filming of the series was expected to take place between April and September 2023.
Plot
The plot of the series is not based on any of the books by the original writer Andrzej Sapkowski. The show will give the characters their own backstories when they will Ciri at the end of season 3. The characters were introduced at the end of the novel “Time of Contempt” when Ciri manages to escape with Kayleigh and also tried to assault Ciri but she was saved by Mistle. Mistle and Ciri’s romance is still considered questionable as Ciri was 14 years old and could not give consent. Not only the romance with Mistle affected Ciri, but staying with Rats also made her colder as the Rats used to loot and kill for fun and would give the stolen things to the peasants to keep them protected from law enforcement. But their actions attracted the dangerous bounty hunter, Leo Bonhart, and things got worse.
Also, the Rats are important to the Geralt of Rivia’s story. So, season 3 has to get the Rats right for the spin-off show to work. The only storyline that is available right now is;
“Six teenage thieves must rely on their criminal skills as they plan the biggest heist of their careers against the most dangerous crime ring in the kingdom.”
Cast
Ben Radcliffe, Christelle Elwin, Fabian McCallum, Aggy K. Adams, Juliette Alexandra, and Connor Crawford will reprise their roles in season 3 of “The Witcher” and will also appear in the spin-off show.

Brehen has a confrontation with Geralt of Rivia. However, it is not revealed how his character is relevant to the upcoming new show.
Conclusion
Henry Cavil will not be reprising his role of Geralt. The news saddened the fans of the show and it is unclear what will happen in season 3. There are rumors that Chris Hemsworth will be replacing the actor in season 3. The showrunner Lauren S.Hissrich has assured that season 3 will be more faithful to the original source material as compared to the last seasons.
