Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is famous for appearing in Netflix’s hit coming-of-age series “Never Have I Ever” and is soon going to be seen in a new Netflix project. The show has come to an end and won’t be returning for another season. The series turned out to be a huge success for the platform. Never have I ever managed to accumulate 338,000,000 million hours of watch time. The series managed to receive positive reviews from the viewers especially Indian viewers who were happy to see a positive representation of Indian teen girls.
The show’s new season release on Netflix this week. The show is already trending in the top 10 worldwide. The series is based on Mindy Kaling’s own experiences. The office actress wanted to tell people that not all Indian characters are like “Princess Jasmine” and wanted to introduce a character that is relatable.
The series follows Indian American Teenager Devi, who navigates the challenges of high school while dealing with the loss of her father. The series managed to receive positive reactions from viewers because of its humor and diverse representation and relatable plot.
However, fans of the series want more of the Never Have I Ever cast. Maitreyi who plays Devi in the series will be seen in another Netflix project known as “The Netherfield Girls”. The upcoming movie is going to be directed by Becca Gleason who is known for directing “Summer-03” starring Joey King. Gleason also wrote the screenplay for the movie and Temple Hill Entertainment has produced the upcoming project.

It is hard to say when the movie will be released as it is still in development. Netflix has not officially announced anything about the movie.
Plot
The upcoming movie is a fresh new take on Jane Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice”. Ramakrishnan will be playing Lizzie Bennet. Austen’s “Pride and Prejudice” is a story set in 19th Century England following the life of the Bennet Family. Elizabeth Bennet, the second eldest daughter meets Mr.Darcy and soon their clashes and misunderstanding begin to change and they fall for each other. However, the upcoming movie will have twists to make it relevant to the 21st century.
The movie is said to have a similar theme as other hit teenager movies like “Easy A” and “10 Things I Hate About You”. Also, Lizzie will end up failing for a Mr.Wrong who she thinks is a Mr.Right. No additional information about the plot is released yet.
Cast
No information about the other cast members is out yet besides Maitreyi. Fans loved her as “Devi” and cannot wait for her future projects. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and her friend decided to audition for the role of Devi when Mindy Kaling left a tweet in 2019. Ramakrishnan was impressively selected to play “Devi” and beat 15000 girls for the role.
The actress also showed her gratitude towards the cast members of the series and also thanked Kailing for mentorship. The actress also appeared in Netflix’s My Little Pony. However, just like her character in Never Have I Ever, Maitreyi is also going to college and planning to commit to her studies and soon will be seen in many other acting projects.
