Payday 3: How to Change Controller Dead Zone Settings

Those who are experienced with controllers know well how much the dead zone settings mean inside the game. With it, you can’t make it feel realistic or suitable to your personality. Payday 3 is the latest and greatest in the Payday: The Heist series and players are not happy as to why they can’t find any Controller Dead Zone settings in Payday 3.

The bigger the dead zone for the game is, the more sticks can move around before the actual input registration in the game. The smaller a dead zone is, the less it can move around before registering input.

Are there Dead Zone settings in Payday 3?

No, there are no dead zone settings inside the game. It is a modern shooter with accessibility on all platforms. The players on controllers can’t change their dead zone settings, making the controller feel less reliable in contrast to a mouse/keyboard.

But, there are other ways to change Dead Zone in Payday 3 or other games as well if not provided in the game menu.

Is a higher or lower Dead Zone better in Payday 3?

According to the theoretical writings, the smaller dead zone is better. But, it depends on the players more than it depends on the theory. You can either increase or decrease depending on your taste.

So, if you are in a competitive Payday 3 aspect, you need to have the Dead Zone set in a way that even the slightest movement results in input.

How to Change the Dead Zone Settings in Payday 3?

To change the Dead Zone, if not provided in the game, you have to write in Controller in the Windows and then select “Set Up USB Controllers”.

Select the Controller and proceed to the Properties Button. Then, check out the Settings Tab, you can see the Calibration of the Controller. Reset it for Default, or adjust the Dead Zone.

You can also change the Payday 3 Controller Dead Zone through Steam. For that head over to Steam and then settings. Then go to the Controller Tab and check out the General Controller Settings. Select the Controller you want to Calibrate and then click on Calibrate.

Payday 3: The Heist

The Verdict

So, Payday 3 doesn’t provide you with in-game Dead Zone Settings, but you can change the Dead Zone through the Windows Settings or through Steam. Our recommendation would be to not mess around with the controller Dead Zone if you don’t know anything about it. In case you do so, you can just then, by all means, mess with the settings and change them according to your taste.
