Prime Video’s most beloved creation is coming back with a third season. the streaming platform released the renewal news for the show on August 3. The show is based on the novel of the same name by Jenny Han. The book follows Isabel Conklins as she goes to Cousins Beach to spend the summer with her mother, where she gets to meet the Fisher brothers.
Summer I turned pretty quickly became a fan favorite. Now, the show is about to have its third season. It seems like Amazon Prime is not ready to let go of the show yet and we will be seeing more of the Fisher brothers and Belly in the future. Fans of the show were worried that the ongoing show would affect the release date of season 3. The official announcement revealed that the show was renewed before the strike. But, the production will not start after the labor negotiations with unions have been resolved.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Release Date
There is no news about the release date of the third season. Season 3 might be delayed due to the strike. But, if the labor negotiations are resolved then we can expect to see the final season in 2024.
Plot
The first two seasons followed the first two books in the trilogy. So, the third season will also follow the last book “We’ll always have the summer”. Season 2 ended with Belly making a hard decision. Belly decided to choose Conard over Jeremiah, as Conard wanted Bell to be with his younger brother after Belly and Jeremiah’s intimate moment. But, the third book suggests that we will be seeing more drama and heartbreak in the upcoming season. Also, the past seasons have deviated from the source material. However. In a recent interview with PEOPLE, all of the cast members have firmly assured fans that the newer season will follow the book closely. Gavin Casalegno(Jeremiah) revealed while talking to the PEOPLE that Jenny Han is always hitting the “main points”;
“I know Jenny is really just strong on staying as true to the books as possible and hitting the main points”.
Lola Tung also shared her thoughts;
“There’s so many different ways you could go about it. There’s a blueprint of a book, which we’ve been lucky to have for two seasons now, just such a solid blueprint for us, and to have Jenny on set with us has been incredible.”
Fans who already have read the books will be excited to see all the drama and emotions returning to their screens. According to Jenny Han, there are going to be 10 episodes in the upcoming season. The official synopsis of the book suggests that Belly has to make a final decision once and for all.
“Isabel has only ever loved two boys, Conrad and Jeremiah Fisher. She’s grown up with them, and can’t imagine life without them. One broke her heart, the other made her happier than she ever thought she’d be. But each brother is keeping a secret from Isabel, and this summer she must choose between the Fisher boys, once and for all.”
