The movie was released on August 11, 2023 on Netflix and quickly started to trend in the top 10. Heart of Stone managed to accumulate 33.1 million views on its opening weekend. The movie is expected to become an action franchise like James Bond or Mission Impossible. There are few Female spies in Hollywood. So, Rachel Stone can become the next big spy. It is not the first time that Gal Gadot is seen playing an action role. Gal Gadot is known for roles in action movies like Fast and Furious, and Wonder Woman. She also appeared in Netflix’s big-budget action Red Notice.
Heart of Stone 2 Release Date
Netflix has not officially announced the release date for Heart of Stone 2 yet. Heart of Stone’s director Tom Harper revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that he hopes that the movie becomes a successful female-led franchise. However, Heart of Stone got average reviews and ratings on IMDb. The movie has a 5.7 rating on IMDb and a 28% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Also, Tom Harper said that it’s too early to say anything about a sequel yet. He said;
“If you start thinking too much about the future, how it’s going to go down, what audiences are going to make of it, what critics are gonna say… That’s a scary thing to think about.
“For the moment just: make this film, hope you do a good job, hope the audiences are gonna love it, and take it from there.”
But, if Netflix decides to release a sequel despite the bad reviews, then it can be released in 2025 or early 2028.
Plot
Gal Gadot played the role of an MI6 agent secretly part of an organization the Charter. MI6 was formed to protect the interests of the whole of Britain. However, The Charter was formed by all the former MI6 spies to protect the interests of people without any political affiliations. Also, Heart is protecting this AI technology that is capable of hacking any device and can predict future events. Rachel Stone tries to defend the technology from falling into the wrong hands. Keya and Parker were the villains of the movie. Both of them are after the Heart. However, Keya wanted to expose his adopted father Niam Kharche, a big pharmaceutical owner who killed thousands of innocent people by performing experiments on them. Parker’s plan was more cynical as he wanted revenge from The Charter for betraying him and leaving him to die during an operation in Chechenia.
However, in the end, Stone and Keya together save the day. Keya becomes part of the Heart team. The film ends with both of them going on a new mission together.
Will Alia Bhatt return for Netflix Heart of Stone 2?
Jamie Dornan’s Parker is dead so he would not be returning for the sequel. However, Bhatt’s Keya can become a potential team member for the Heart team. According to Tom Harper Alia Bhatt and Gal Gadot shared a good bond and had electricity. He revealed that some of his favorite scenes in the movie are where they riff off each other and the banter they have.
Alia Bhatt revealed that she had fun playing the antagonist in the movie. She also shared her experience while working with Gal Gadot.
“‘What was amazing about working with Gal is that she takes everybody’s opinions as importantly as she would take her own.”
It seems like Alia Bhatt had a good time working on the movie and will definitely return for a sequel if Netflix decides to release a sequel.
