To keep Gale with you on the team as a companion, you need to feed him some Artifacts on a regular basis. Typically, he does ask you for a single Artifact through the window that appears on top. There is a Donate Screen specifically for that and after feeding one, you exit the screen.

You are stuck in a soft lock here, where Gale doesn’t stop you from taking or eating Artifacts or Items. The simplest fix for that is to simply restart the game. After that, the game will be back to normal.
Will Gale Leave me if I Feed him too much? No, he won’t leave you, but you will be out of items once in a while, leaving you empty-handed. For that, you just have to feed him one item or artifact daily. He won’t leave you if you plan like that. On the other hand, if you don’t Feed Gale Items, he will leave you as a companion.
