Barbie Ferreira recently shared on her Instagram that she’s leaving “Euphoria,” and that stirred up rumors about Alexa Demie, who plays “Maddy Perez,” possibly leaving too. Demie’s character might exit in Season 3, but there’s no confirmation from the show’s creators or Demie yet.

Why did Barbie Ferreira leave Euphoria?
Barbie Ferreira, known as “Kat Hernandez” on the show, surprised everyone by announcing her departure. She wasn’t happy with how her character’s story unfolded in Season 2. In the first season, Kat had a strong, relatable storyline, loved for her confident, body-positive vibe. But in Season 2, her character got less screen time, and fans felt she became one-dimensional. Some fans even criticized the show’s writer, Sam Levinson, for not developing Kat’s story well. Levinson denied these claims, but there were rumors that Ferreira walked off set multiple times.
The tension between Ferreira and Levinson eventually led her to leave the show. She bid farewell to her character Kat on Instagram, expressing love and gratitude for the journey.
After four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I’m having to say a very teary-eyed goodbye.” she continued
“I hope many of you could see yourself in her as I did and that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today. I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez.”
Ferreira has some other great projects lined up for her. The Euphoria actress will appear in HBO max’s film “Unpregnant” and will also appear in Jordan Peele’s film “Nope”.
What About Alexa Demie in Euphoria Season 3?
After Ferreira’s exit news, fake rumors surfaced on Twitter about Alexa Demie’s departure, claiming she was dropped from Season 3 due to behind-the-scenes issues. But that tweet turned out to be a trick to get fans to vote for Doja Cat at the VMA’s. There’s been no real confirmation about Demie leaving “Euphoria.”
In essence, while Ferreira is leaving the show, there’s no solid confirmation about Demie departing.
